Megan Pollin '12: From "Off Campus" to the Big Apple
“Off Campus” is the award-winning sitcom produced by Drexel students about the confusing world that America’s young people face in today’s economic times. The series has picked up a number of awards, most recently the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ (NATAS) College Production Award of Excellence in the Outstanding College Long Form Fiction Programming category in the fall of 2013.
Megan Pollin ’12, a film and video production alumna who, as a student, was one of the show’s producers, was on hand to receive the Mid-Atlantic Emmy®, also known as the Crystal Pillar.
“I started working on ‘Off Campus’ my sophomore year,” said Pollin. “They were looking for an editor and I was really trying to get into editing and make myself known in the film department.” >>

Make Your Class Gift to Drexel's Reunion Giving Program
Does your class year end in a “4” or a “9”? If so, join your classmates in Reunion Giving and make a gift to Drexel to celebrate your time as a student! When you participate in Reunion Giving, you make a milestone gift to Drexel every five years. Individual classes have Reunion Giving goals that, when combined, contribute directly to scholarships and Drexel’s Strategic Initiatives. It’s different than your annual contribution to the Drexel Fund and it benefits students by creating more scholarship support — something the majority of our students need — and improves the overall student experience.

Drexel President John Fry Featured in Smart CEO Magazine
For its 2014 economic outlook, SmartCEO Magazine turned to the region’s industry leaders, including Drexel President John Fry, for advice on how to prepare for what lies ahead.
“Colleges and universities represent one of the largest economic engines in Philadelphia,” said John A. Fry, president of Drexel University. “We’re one of the largest employers and attract tens of thousands of students and visitors from around the world.”
But with decreased government funding, uprisings over the cost of tuition and struggles to raise money, colleges and universities are taking another look at their books. “The name of the game in higher ed is how to generate tuition revenue with a reasonable discount,” Fry says. Drexel, with its largest student population ever, is focusing on partnerships and entrepreneurship, including Drexel Ventures, a subsidiary helping faculty and student entrepreneurs build their businesses. Fry advises other institutions to do the same. >>
President Fry has been nominated by the Philadelphia Business Journal for Person of the Year. To vote for him, click here.
