		35th Annual Alumni Holiday Turkey Project The Drexel University community has lent its support to the Alumni Holiday Turkey Project for 35 years, providing holiday turkeys to families in-need within the university's neighborhood. In 2007, turkeys were given to more than 1,200 families in West Philadelphia and to those served by Drexel's 11th Street Family Health Services Center. This year the Alumni Association has partnered with the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and, together, the project will provide 1,800 families with turkeys. Alumni, students, faculty and friends can help by making a donation to the project and volunteering to assist with the turkey distribution on Thursday, December 18, 2008. 		Ensure Your Voice is Heard with the Alumni Discovery Initiative When you leave Drexel University with your degree in hand, your connection to the university is not lost. As a graduate, you are still very much a part of Drexel, which is why we want to hear from you! Your interests, your stories and your suggestions are important to us, and for that reason, President Papadakis has established the Alumni Discovery Initiative. The goal of the program is to ensure that the voices of our alumni are heard. To accomplish this, Drexel hired four of its co-op students to serve as Student Liaisons to meet with and interview alumni. The Student Alumni Liaisons will not solicit you for funds, ask you to volunteer or to make any other commitments to the university. The meetings are meant to be fun, informal interviews during which our student liaisons will simply ask questions, listen to what you have to say and bring your memories, opinions and advice back to campus. If you are available to speak with one of our Student Alumni Liaisons, for even just a few minutes, please contact the Alumni Discovery Initiative Coordinator and Assistant Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Kevin J. 		Chapel Family Endows Dean's Chair in Leadership at LeBow College of Business With a $2.5 million gift to his alma mater, R. John Chapel, Jr. '67, former President and CEO of AVIEL Systems, Inc., and his wife Virginia endowed the first Dean's Chair in Leadership at the LeBow College of Business. Drexel is the second private university in the nation to have an endowed dean's chair. "I am very impressed with the leadership demonstrated by Dean George Tsetsekos of the LeBow College," said Chapel. "Endowing the dean's chair will provide him with a discretionary fund that can be used to advance the college and prepare graduates to enter the business world with a solid education, well grounded in leadership and ethics." 		New Scholarship Opportunities Established for Drexel Families Drexel has announced two new scholarship programs for students enrolling as full-time undergraduate students in fall 2009. Through the Drexel Legacy Scholarship, children and grandchildren of Drexel alumni, including alumni from the Drexel University College of Medicine, will be eligible for a $3,000 scholarship per year toward their annual tuition bill. The Dragon Family Scholarship program offers $3,000 in scholarship opportunities per year to families who send more than one child to Drexel for a full-time annually-billed undergraduate day program even if enrollment is not concurrent. 		Alumni Profile: Kristin Dudley '06 AWCoMAD Kristin Dudley graduated from Drexel armed with a degree in Fashion Design and an entrepreneural sprit. After a timely twist of events, she and two friends founded the thriving company LympheDIVAs which provides fashionable compression sleeves to those suffering from a side effect of breast cancer treatments known as lymphedima. But Kristin's road to success did not come easy. At the age of 26, she's overcome the uncertainty and stress of launching a new business along with the tragic loss of a business partner and a friend. 		Call for Volunteers: Alumni Speakers The Drexel University Alumni Association is currently seeking volunteers to speak and/or provide Web site content for our new Alumni Career Services program. Some topics of interest to our alumni include job search techniques, how to stand out in a competitive job market, entrepreneurship, leadership, turning ideas into income. Or, feel free to let us know your own personal areas of expertise that could lend themselves to a great program or Web site piece! In addition, we are looking for alumni who have backgrounds in real estate (realtors, mortgage brokers, home inspectors, etc.) to serve as panelists for a program on how to purchase a first home, as part of our Young Alumni How-To series. 		The Young Alumni Association Hits the Slopes All young alumni are invited to the first-ever YAA-sponsored ski trip on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Join us at the Snö Mountain Ski Resort in Scranton, PA and spend the day skiing and snow boarding in the company of friends. The evening will close with an alumni dinner party at the Snö Grille Restaurant around 6 p.m. Departure from Drexel's "F" lot is 6:30 a.m. Guests should plan to arrive back in Philadelphia around 11 p.m. that night. 		Save the Date for Alumni Weekend 2009 Plans are underway for Alumni Weekend 2009 so mark your calendars for May 1 and 2! Members of the Class of 1959 should have received their save-the-date letter in the mail and an invitation will be coming in early 2009.
		The Alumni Ambassador Program Interaction between a prospective student and our alumni is one of the most personal ways that a student can learn about Drexel and all it has to offer. The Alumni Ambassadors Program is a collaborative effort by the Offices of Alumni Relations and Enrollment Management to bring Drexel alumni a unique opportunity to be involved with and stay connected to Drexel. Whether you live in a big city on the east coast, in a small mid-west town, or somewhere around the world, you can be an Alumni Ambassador. In many cases, you don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home to participate. The Alumni Ambassadors Program is designed to fit your interests and your time availability.
