The Community Alumni Network at Drexel University (CAN DU), in partnership with Drexel's Office of Government and Community Relations, invites alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends for a day of service at Morton McMichael Elementary School in West Philadelphia on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Volunteers will work together to revitalize the teachers' garden, pre-k and kindergarten playground, and the library.
Can't make it or want to do more? We are holding a drive for school supplies, such as crayons, markers and notebooks, as well as recreational equipment, including footballs, jump ropes and soccer balls. Donations can be made the day of the project, at any Drexel University alumni event, placed in donation boxes located around campus, or even ordered online and shipped directly to the project site.

For the past 36 years, the Drexel University community has lent its support to the Annual Alumni Holiday Turkey Project, providing holiday turkeys to families in-need within the university's neighborhood. Again this year, the generosity of the Drexel community will help provide a festive holiday meal to families in the university’s neighborhood.

Each year the Drexel University Alumni Association Board of Governors recognizes alumni for outstanding achievements in their professions, in the community, and within the university. We encourage all members of the alumni and university community to participate in the awards process by sharing the achievements of fellow alumni, colleagues and friends with the committee for nomination. Anthony Bracali, graduate of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design and principal architect with Friday Architects and Planners, talks about his involvement in the construction of Paines Park, a park slated for groundbreaking in Spring 2010 which will be dedicated to the sport of skateboarding.
In 2007,The Paines Park project received a $1 million construction grant from the City of Philadelphia, the most ever dedicated by a city to a skateboarding project. "This doesn't happen in other cities; this has never happened in another city," said Anthony. More
