Drexel Alumni Community Service Program
Join fellow alumni and friends on Saturday, October 21 for the kick-off of the Alumni Association's new Community Service program that will feature several projects throughout the year. This initiative is co-sponsored by the Lebow College of Business, Department of Athletics, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Pennoni Honors College and the greater Philadelphia Cares Association.
Our first initiative will help the West Philadelphia schools of Saint Ignatius and Our Mother of Sorrows. Volunteers will assist in cleaning up the courtyard, painting an outside mural, and organizing school supplies and classroom space. Join the fun from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. For more information, click here.
Drexel Among Top National Universities for Fourth Consecutive Year
Drexel was again ranked by U.S. News & World Report
as one of America’s Top National Universities, marking the fourth consecutive year to be included in the publication’s top category. In the 2007 rankings, released on August 18, 2006 the University placed 112th overall.
Drexel and the University of Pennsylvania are the only Philadelphia institutions ranked among U.S. News best national universities while Carnegie Mellon, Lehigh and Penn State are the only other Pennsylvania institutions. For more information, click here.
Drexel Law Opens
The doors to Drexel’s newest academic unit - the College of Law - officially opened on September 5th when the College welcomed the 180 members of its inaugural class for orientation. The class exceeds the College’s original goal of 120 students after having received more than 1,750 applications for admittance. For more information on the inauguration of the college, click here.
Alumni are encouraged to get involved in the College of Law by helping to identify 2007 summer internships for our new law students. If you or someone you know works at a company with an in-house legal department, please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org with the name of the company and contact information for the head of the legal department. Raj Gupta '72 Named Business Leader of the Year
Drexel trustee, member of The Drexel 100 and chairman, president and CEO of Rohm and Haas Company, Raj Gupta is Drexel’s 53rd Business Leader of the Year. He will receive the award at a luncheon on Thursday, November 30, at noon at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at The Bellevue.
Gupta, who has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in Operations Research from Cornell University, earned his MBA in finance from LeBow College of Business in 1972. He is a member of the Boards of Tyco, The Vanguard Group, the American Chemistry Council, and the Chemical Heritage Foundation. He was inducted into The Drexel 100 in 2000. Drexel Men's Basketball Releases 2006-07 Schedule
On Wednesday, November 15, Drexel Men's Basketball will kick off it's season against Florida Gulf Coast. The 29-game season will feature competition against 10 teams that advanced to postseason play last year. In addition, the Dragons face a pair of Big East teams, four of the five Philadelphia Big 5 teams and will once again participate in ESPN’s Bracket Buster series. Annual Fall Career Fair Scheduled for October 4th
All alumni are invited to participate in Drexel's Annual Fall Career Fair on Wednesday, October 4, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Daskalakis Athletic Center (33rd and Market Streets). More than 250 employers will be on hand to meet interested candidates and to discuss their companies and job opportunities. Career Fair participants are encouraged to dress professionally and bring resumes or curriculum vitae for distribution to employers. 5th Annual Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival
Gather with alumni and friends on Saturday, October 7, as we defend our title as Collegiate Challenge Champions. Join us in the Drexel tent beginning at 8 a.m. to cheer on the Drexel boats as we race for charity. Annual Alumni Turkey Project
Help the Alumni Association continue the tradition of assisting local families in need by supporting our Holiday Turkey Project scheduled for Thursday, December 14. For over 30 years, the Association has organized this event to give back to campus neighborhoods. Last year, a record 2,400 turkeys were distributed within the University community. Many families were able to enjoy a festive holiday meal thanks to the generosity of alumni, friends, students, faculty and staff.

Uncover the treasures of "Tutankhamun and The Golden Age of the Pharaohs" as this exhibition makes its final stop in a four-city U.S. tour. Join President Papadakis on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia at 6 p.m. for an alumni reception fit for a king, followed by your timed entrance into the exhibit beginning at 8 p.m. A lavish dessert reception will immediately follow the tour. Meet President Papadakis on Sunday, October 22, from 5 - 8 p.m. for cocktails and dinner at the Lakeside Clubhouse of the Olympic Country Club, the oldest athletic club in the United States (pictured left in 1893). Alumni International Travel Program
