		U.S. News: Drexel One of Nation's Top Six "Up-and Coming Schools" Drexel made the "up-and-coming" short list of national universities that have achieved "the most promising and innovative changes in academics, faculty, students, campus, or facilities," according to top college officials polled by U.S. News & World Report for the 2009 edition of "America's Best Colleges." Only 20 universities in the country made the list. These are "universities that have recently made striking improvements or innovations — schools everyone should be watching," according to the publication. "These colleges may not be at the top of the rankings (yet), but they're tops for innovation." More
		A Founding Father of the Internet, Drexel Alumnus Paul A. Baran Named National Medal of Technology and Innovation Laureate Paul A. Baran '49, Hon. '97, a founding father of the Internet and a Drexel alumnus, has been named a 2007 National Medal of Technology and Innovation laureate. President Bush will present the award to Baran on Monday, September 29, in the East Room of the White House. The award honors America's leading innovators and is presented to individuals, teams and companies for their contributions to the nation's economic, environmental and social well-being. More

		Drexel Inter-Fraternity Alumni Association Officially Formed Drexel fraternities and sororities have played an active role in the campus community since 1900. 		Food 4 Thought: Global Warming — A Personal History On October 1, 2008, join Drexel alumni for lunch and a discussion in the Paul Peck Alumni Center with Dr. James Spotila, professor in the Department of Bioscience & Biotechnology, Betz Chair Professor of Environmental Science and director of the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation at the College of Arts & Sciences. Dr. Spotila will discuss global warming, which is one of the most important environmental issues of our time. 		Ellen Forman Memorial Dance Studio Opening Event Join us for the opening of the Ellen Forman Memorial Dance Studio on Friday, October 3, 2008. The studio opening event will give attendees an opportunity to see the newly-renovated studio, while connecting or reconnecting with Drexel Dance alumni and friends. The evening presentation will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in Mandell Theater and will include a live performance of excerpts from dances by Ellen Forman, presented by Drexel students, and a video tribute to Ms. Forman. 		Women's Soccer Alumni Night Join us for a pre-game reception on Friday, October 3, 2008, to gather and rally before the women's soccer team takes on Old Dominion. The reception begins at 6 p.m. at Vidas Field and will be immediately followed by the game at 7 p.m. For more information, click here.
		Dragon Boat Festival Gather in the Drexel tent along the Schuylkill River as two boats of Drexel alumni, faculty, staff and friends race to our 5th consecutive Collegiate Challenge Championship in the 7th Annual Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival. 		Career Workshop for Design & Merchandising and Fashion Alumni In today's competitive marketplace, learning to become your own best advocate and understanding how to manage your career's growth are essential components to professional success. Join Design & Merchandising and Fashion Design alumni on Saturday, October 18, 2008, for a breakfast and seminar on "Managing Your Own Career." 		Head of the Charles Regatta Since 1965, rowers have come to the banks of the Charles River in Boston, MA, to take part in the world's largest regatta. Gather under the Drexel tent in Reunion Village along the river to cheer on the men's and women's crew teams as they compete against other top national and international colleges and universities. 		Celebrate Fall with Chester/Delaware County Alumni at Linvilla Orchards On Saturday, October 18, 2008, from 1 to 4 p.m., join fellow Chester/Delaware County alumni for a day of family fun at Linvilla Orchards in Media, PA. The afternoon includes hay rides, fall treats and family activities including entrance to the playground, a campfire and corn to feed the animals.
