Eric Martin '04: Adventuring Through New Zealand
Self-proclaimed 'computer nerd' Eric Martin was perusing the pages of Craigslist one day in search of local theater gigs when something unexpected caught his eye. As if speaking directly to him, the ad on his computer screen read something along the lines of:
“Do you sit at a desk all day?” Martin answered, yes. Do you like the outdoors, fishing and hunting?” The ski instructor and avid fisherman thought, yes. “Do you long for adventure?” Without a doubt, yes!
What Martin inadvertently discovered was a casting call for contestants for TNT’s adventure reality show “72 Hours.” He responded to the ad with an email and much to his surprise he was asked to speak with producers via Skype. >>

Behind the Scenes at "SPY: The Secret World of Espionage" at the Franklin Institute
Join the Alumni Association and the College of Arts and Sciences for a night at the Franklin Institute's exhibit, "SPY: The Secret World of Espionage," with special guest Dr. Eric Zillmer, Carl R. Pacifico Professor of Neuropsychology and the Director of Athletics at Drexel University.
The evening will start with a reception under the dome of the Fels Planetarium where Dr. Zillmer will discuss the psychology of spying, why humans are so preoccupied with secrecy and knowing, and why knowledge is the military's essential tool, not weaponry. After the talk, head over to the exhibit which features the real-life evolution of spy technology with more than 200 rare treasures and historical artifacts. >>
New Student Send-offs Are in Full Swing
The Drexel University Alumni Association is on the road hosting New Student Send-off Receptions for incoming students and their families all summer long. The send-offs kicked off in San Diego and New York City on August 6, and they'll continue to take place around the country until September 12. Send-offs provide a chance for incoming students to meet one another, as well as staff from the University and local alumni.

In Case You Missed It: Detroit Alumni Day at the Ballpark
On a Sunday, July 28, a group of 43 Drexel alumni and friends joined the Alumni Association for its annual Detroit Area Day at the Ballpark. After a festive pizza party in the Miller Light Upper Deck Lounge, everyone settled into their Upper Box Infield seats to watch as the Philadelphia Phillies took on the Detroit Tigers in Comercia Park for the first time in six years. It was a great summer afternoon spent with friends and we look forward to coming back next year!
