Autumn Kietponglert, MS Fashion Design 2007:
A Rockstar Designer

Alumni SpotlightAutumn Kietponglert ‘07 is an award-winning Philadelphia-based independent fashion designer whose work has been shown at Philadelphia Fashion Week, Couture Fashion Week (NYC), Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (NYC) and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Kietponglert graduated from Drexel in 2007 with a master's degree in fashion design and has recently returned to campus to co-teach a course with Fashion Design, Product Design and Design and Merchandising Department Head, Roberta Gruber.

In 2013, she came in 3rd place as a contestant on the new fashion competition show, “Styled To Rock” which is executive produced by recording artist, Rihanna. Kietponglert talks about her journey to fashion design, her life-changing experience on “Styled to Rock” and what the future holds. >>

The Drexel University Alumni Association is Now Accepting Board Nominations

The Drexel University Alumni Association is currently accepting nominations of qualified alumni interested in running for election to the Board of Governors. The Board of Governors oversees and advocates the Alumni Association's efforts to engage, advance and support Drexel University and its alumni and students through a variety of programs, services and awards. Click here for more information.

To nominate yourself, click here to complete the Candidate Letter of Interest form that can be downloaded or completed online, or contact the Alumni Relations office at 1.888.DU.GRADS to request the form by mail or fax. Nominees must submit the Candidate Letter of Interest form no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014.

Alumni Weekend Registration is Now Open

This year at Alumni Weekend, members of the Classes of 1964 and 1989 will return to their stomping grounds to commemorate their 50- and 25-year reunions, the Sports Fans of the '50s will reunite for their biennial celebrations, and a number of campus groups will come back for special get-togethers. A number of Drexel's colleges and schools will open their doors for tours, open houses and meet-and-greets. Saturday will kick off with the 22nd Annual University City 5K Run and our Alumni Scavenger Hunt which will take Dragons across campus and Philadelphia. Closing out the weekend, we’ll take over the Main Building for a brand new event, Drexel After Dark!

Gold Rush Game
Bill McKenna '78, '85, Jim Dimmig '77, '85 and Joe Ryan '78 show their Drexel pride in Gold Rush T-shirts at the Alumni Day at the DAC Gold Rush game on Saturday, Feb. 8. More than 100 alumni and Dragon fans braved the snow for a pre-game rally before watching the Drexel men's basketball team take on James Madison University.

In Case You Missed It: Alumni Day at the DAC Gold Rush Game

Alumni and Dragon fans filled the Hazem Maragah Hospitality Suite for the Alumni Association's Alumni Day at the DAC and 2nd Annual Gold Rush Game on Saturday, Feb. 8. Gold Rush T-shirts were handed out at the door, turning the DAC into a sea of gold as the Dragons battled the James Madison Dukes. Alumni celebrated a Drexel victory as the Dragon's outstanding defense in the final 20 minutes helped them defeat James Madison, 78-60.

The Eric Zempol Memorial Fund

The Westphal College of Media Arts & Design is deeply saddened to announce that Graphic Design Adjunct Professor Eric Zempol ‘93 passed away on January 25, 2014, from complications due to pneumonia. Westphal College will host a celebration of Eric’s life at the URBN Center on Sunday, March 2 from 2 to 5 p.m. Those wishing to include their stories of Eric in a book that will be given to the family can do so on Facebook.

A fund has been established to name the actual classroom in which Eric taught freshmen students, URBN room 436, in his honor. To make a donation to the Eric Zempol Memorial Fund, visit the donation website at, enter the total amount of your gift, under “I would like my gift to be designated to” choose “Other,” and type in: “Eric Zempol Memorial Fund – Westphal College.”
