The Alumni Association will accept nominations, between March 1 and 26, 2010, for alumni interested in running for election to the Board of Governors. The Board oversees the Alumni Association's efforts to engage, advance and support the campus community and its alumni and students through a variety of programs, services and awards, as well as opportunities for volunteerism and advocacy. “I’ll let Barbara tell it; it’s her favorite story,” said Carl Fugmann ’54, when asked how he and his wife first met.
With a laugh, Barbara ’56 began to explain that she transferred to Drexel during her sophomore year. She said that as a result of the transfer, her schedule was a little ‘off’ and she found herself in a senior advertising class.
“Every day I would bring a crossword puzzle with me and I would sit there and do my puzzle,” she said.
“Instead of paying attention to class,” Carl joked.
Getting back to the story, Barbara explained that one day she felt a tap on her shoulder before class started, and there was Carl, a senior at the time, handing her a crossword puzzle. More

Are you, or do you know, the parent or grandparent of a current Drexel student? If so, the Alumni Association would like to let you know that it offers Alumni Legacy Scholarships to children and grandchildren of Drexel alumni, including alumni of the College of Medicine, School of Public Health and College of Nursing and Health Professions. Dinner with 12 Dragons is a program that personalizes the overall Drexel student-alumni experience. The Drexel University Alumni Association and the Alumni Club of San Diego are seeking volunteers to participate in a panel discussion on the topic of career transition. This event will be held in the San Diego area this spring. If you have transitioned from one industry to another, or to another line of work in your current industry, we want to hear from you! We would like our panelists to discuss how they knew they wanted to make a transition, the process itself (for example, returning to school or participating in volunteer work/internships in preparation for the transition) and the results of the process.
We are also seeking volunteers for Alumni Career Services Programs in the Baltimore, Boston and New York City areas. Topics include, but are not limited to, networking, entrepreneurship and leadership.

Connections between the Sacramento Center for Graduate Studies and the Northern California Alumni Club continue to grow! In January, Drexel University Interim President C.R. "Chuck" Pennoni '63, '66, Hon. '92, had lunch with more than a dozen California alumni in San Francisco, where they were joined by Sacramento Dean Tobey Oxholm and five graduate students; and he spoke to students and alumni in Sacramento the next day. Alumni from the LeBow College of Business will be gathering in Sacramento in April, and the students are planning on joining the alumni for a Giants game this summer.
Drexel's Philadelphia campuses were closed February 10 and 11, 2010, due to severe weather as a major snowstorm came into the city. According to Fox 29, Philadelphia received 14 inches of snow by the end of the storm late February 10, adding to the accumulation from a snowstorm during the previous weekend. More
