On March 1, 2011, the Drexel University Alumni Association will begin accepting nominations for alumni interested in running for election to the Board of Governors. The Board oversees the Alumni Association's efforts to engage, advance and support the campus community and its alumni and students through a variety of programs, services and awards, as well as opportunities for volunteerism and advocacy. Additional information about the role and responsibilities of the Board, and how to nominate yourself or another qualified candidate is available online. Mary and John Wagner's love story began more than 66 years ago.
It was while they were waiting in line to register for their summer classes on June 26, 1944, that they first met. John was beginning his sophomore year, Mary, having just transferred to Drexel from another school, was a junior.
"It was a big, long line that was moving slowly," Mary recalled. "You had to do something to pass the time so we talked to the people around us."

It only took a month for one of our newest graduates from the Sacramento Center for Graduate Studies to be appointed to public office. In January, Kyle C. Glankler, MBA ’10, became a Commissioner of Parks and Recreation for the City of West Sacramento. Complimenting Glankler for his “history of leadership and community involvement,” the City’s Mayor Christopher Cabaldon also praised Drexel: "We are also enthusiastic about developing a greater connection with Drexel University from which he just graduated, because of Drexel's demonstrated commitment to public service." Glankler will now spearhead the Alumni Association’s 2011 CAN DU Earth Week service project in April 2011.
