Interfraternity Council Celebrates 75th Anniversary
Drexelink - The Interfraternity Council (IFC), founded during the 1930-31 academic year, will celebrate its 75th anniversary beginning this month. The six-month celebration will culminate with a reception for fraternity alumni in the Great Court of the Main Building during Blue & Gold Days 2006, to be held May 5-7. Other events to recognize the IFC anniversary include the Second Annual IFC Golf Open on April 8, the establishment of an endowment fund to support leadership and scholastic programming and various chapter-specific events. Drexel Named to The Princeton Review’s “Top 25 Most Connected Campuses”
Drexelink - Drexel was named one of America’s “Top 25 Most Connected Campuses” by The Princeton Review (in conjunction with Forbes.com). This was Princeton Review’s third annual survey of technologically-advanced colleges and universities. The survey, based on institutions included in the publication’s Best 361 Colleges guidebook, examined schools in a variety of areas including breadth of computer science curriculum; sophistication of campus technology, such as streaming media of classes; campus wireless Internet access; support for handheld computing; and more. Pig Iron Theatre to Carry Out Full Season at Drexel
The Pig Iron Theatre Company, a nationally, regionally, and internationally recognized theatre company has joined forces with the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design as part of the Mandell Professionals in Residence Program (MPiRP). Supported by the Samuel P. Mandell Foundation, the MPiRP is a Department of Performing Arts collaborative program bringing theatre and dance professionals on to the Drexel campus for performances, production, and instruction.  

 Pig Iron is comprised of artists who have received 2005 Best of Philly and Obie Awards for their production of Hell Meets Henry Halfway, one of the shows they present at Drexel this season.  The group will offer theater and training that is unique, engaging and fresh. Pig Iron’s production of Mission To Mercury, a cabaret-ballet based on the music of Queen, will be held at Mandell Theater, 32nd and Market Streets, from Thursday, February 16, 2006 through Saturday, March 4. 12th Annual National Engineers Week Celebration
Drexelink - The College of Engineering will celebrate National Engineers Week February 18-24. To mark the occasion, the College will host a variety of events to promote awareness and understanding of the field of engineering and the importance of a technical education, and provide tools and information for the Greater Philadelphia youth to pursue engineering careers. During Engineers Week, the College will honor Dr. Robert M. Koerner ’56, ’63 (pictured left), as Drexel’s Engineer of the Year. Koerner, the University’s H.L. Bowman Professor of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering and director of the Geosynthetic Research Institute, is an international leader in the field of geosynthetics. Pennsylvania and the Nation's Health Care Delivery Crisis
Join the Drexel community on April 12 from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for the 2006 Health Care Delivery Crisis Summit. Senator Santorum and other key policymakers will discuss solutions for ending Pennsylvania and the Nation's Health Care Delivery Crisis. Mad Dragon Records Signs Nationally Recognized Artist
Drexel’s student-run MAD Dragon records, part of the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design’s Music Industry Program, announced the signing of nationally-known singer-songwriter Jules Shear (pictured left). Shear has written hits for (among others) Cyndi Lauper (“All Through The Night”) and The Bangles (“If She Knew What She Wants”). He will be featured on an upcoming edition of WXPN’s World Café series and his new album, “Dreams Don’t Count,” will be released on MAD Dragon Records on March 14. Alumni Day with the Philadelphia Soul
Join alumni and their families on Sunday, February 26, as we head to the Wachovia Center to experience arena football at its best. Cheer on the Philadelphia Soul as they fight for victory against 2005 Arena Bowl Champions the Colorado Crush. Receive VIP pre-game access to the Wachovia Center at 11:30 a.m. for an indoor alumni tailgate in the Hall of Fame Room. The Drexel University College of Medicine Department of Cardiology and the Office of Alumni Relations invite you to attend an alumni reception at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis on Sunday, March 12 at 6 p.m. The reception, hosted by Howard J. Find the Perfect Pair... Celebrate the Art of Food and Wine
On Thursday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m., students from the culinary management class will host an evening at the Academic Bistro.  The Hospitality and Culinary Arts Program presents six Italian wines paired with hors d'oeuvres. All pairing presentations will be conducted by Chef Charles Ziccardi, director of the Culinary Arts Program and Chef Francis McFadden, assistant dean of Goodwin College of Professional Studies.

Maureen Christian Petrosky, author of The Wine Club: A Month to Month Guide to Learning about Wine with Friends, will speak on how to “fall in love with wine on your own terms.” Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.
