Constantine Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building

A Message from Dean Donna Murasko

“The Constantine Papadakis Integrated Science Building gives us the opportunity to further realize the potential resulting from the merger of MCP-Hahnemann and Drexel University. The new building will allow us to increase the number of tenure-track faculty from 17 to 25, and will allow incoming biology majors to reach 250 freshmen per year. Not only will the building have state-of-the-art teaching laboratories to provide these students with the cutting-edge training needed in today’s market, but the additional faculty will also allow us to increase the number of research opportunities available to students while at Drexel, thus continuing Drexel’s commitment to experiential learning. The University has been working tirelessly to provide the highest quality education and research experiences for these students, and to increase the research that complements that in the College of Medicine. In addition, the organization of classrooms and auditorium on the first floor will make this building an ideal area for conferences that reflect not only the research activities of the University, but also the vision of President Papadakis, who saw Drexel as a leading research institution, impacting the lives of Philadelphians and people across the nation.

While this building clearly allows the University to grow in the area of biological science, it will also showcase the University’s commitment to sustainability. The four-story living Bio Wall will be a visible testimony of our commitment to sustainability and an improved quality of life for individuals working in large buildings.

This building clearly allows the University to grow in the area of biological science, it will also showcase the University’s commitment to sustainability.

The unique ability of the Bio Wall to remove volatile organic chemicals from air provides an additional research area in which faculty and students can work to improve the quality of life for people. This commitment to sustainability is also apparent in the faculty who make up the biology department, many of whom are committed to the conservation of wildlife and the quality of the Delaware River ecosystem.”
