Life Events and Special Enrollment Rules |
A qualified Life Event is a change in your family or employment status that may allow you to make certain benefit changes. If you experience a Life Event change and wish to add or drop a dependent(s) for coverage purposes, you must do so within 31 days of the qualifying event. You can change coverage and/or add or drop dependents at each Open Enrollment.
Recognized Life Events Include:
- Change in status such as legal, marital status, number of dependents, dependent ceases or satisfies plan eligibility requirements, and change of residence.
- Employment status change from Full-time to Part-time or Part-time to Full-time
- Significant cost or coverage changes
- HIPPA special enrollment rights, FMLA special requirement
- Changes on account of a legal judgement, decree or court order
- Entitlement to Medicare and Medicaid (including CHIP)
