The
studio experience in an essential part of design education,
and exchange among students is a central part of the learning
process. The Antoinette Westphal College of Media, Arts
& Design learning community offers a link between
the two.
The Westphal College Learning Community gives you the
option of expounding upon your classroom knowledge through
academic exploration and idea exchange with your fellow
designers along with your experienced Resident Assistant.
You can work side by side with another Westphal College
student on a design project, participate in another
student’s film or photo shoot, gain new techniques
in painting or drawing, study together for an Art History
exam, and share experiences about courses that you have
taken. The community is self-directed so you have the
opportunity to take the lead in initiating activities
such as study groups, critiques, brainstorming sessions,
meetings, and events. There will also be exciting activities
planned by your RA and the Westphal College of Media,
Arts and Design. When you depart from this community,
after completing your freshman year, you will have a
new found sense of community and team work. Those are
attributes that will be beneficial throughout your college
career.
