Academic Opportunities
Students accepted into the Pennoni Honors College may take advantage of exclusive opportunities, including Honors colloquia and Honors sections of University courses. These classes are taught by Drexel's finest faculty members, and class sizes are kept small to encourage discussion.
Honors Courses and Honors Sections of Courses
Students are required to complete one honors seminar course in at least one additional honors course, beyond honors seminar, within his or her first six quarters on campus to maintain membership in the college. However, to graduate with distinction, students much complete 32 approved Honors credits. View the requirements for graduating with distinction.
- Honors Freshman Seminar - A one-credit interdisciplinary seminar taken during the fall term (HRNS 200).
- Honors Colloquia - Interdisciplinary courses sponsored by the college.
- Recent courses include: Arts and the Internet, Chaos Theory, Representations of Evil: The Holocaust
- Honors Sections of University Courses - Available for many core classes (eg. Calculus, Intro to Psychology). Registration for these sections is open only to members for the Honors College, and students receive Honors credits.
- Honors Option - Take regular courses for Honors credit. To pursue this option, students and the professor teaching the class must develop a course of study worthy of the Honors distinction. A proposal must be submitted to the program director for approval.
- Independent Study - Work with a Professor to design a course that interests you. A proposal must be submitted to the program director for approval in order to receive Honors credit.
Academic Support
Advising and Priority Scheduling - To ensure that you can develop a challenging and individualized course of study, staff at the Honors Center are available to assist you in selecting and registering for classes.
Peer Mentoring - Incoming Honors students are paired with upper class peer mentors, usually someone studying in the same program of college. A pizza party is held at the beginning of the fall term to kick off the mentorship program.
