Message from the Director

Welcome to the Honors Program!

Portrait - Dr. Shannon GaryAs a department of the Pennoni Honors College, the Honors Program works with some of the most academically-talented undergraduate students at Drexel University. As part of the Honors Program mission, we attempt to engage these students by enhancing their academic and co-curricular experiences. It is our philosophy that education simultaneously occurs both inside and outside the classroom. For that reason, we aim to develop a program that addresses most aspects of the student experience. Here are some examples of how we achieve this:

  • Partnering with some of the premier faculty on campus—as well as professional experts—to develop unique, challenging, and interesting courses;
  • Providing access to major cultural events occurring throughout the City of Philadelphia;
  • Developing student camaraderie and community through our Living-Learning Community, located in Millennium Hall;
  • Affording students the opportunity to interact with guests from the fields of literature, film, academia, and more; and
  • Offering support and opportunity for undergraduate students to conduct research and present their findings at national and international conferences.

These are just a few of the many ways our students participate in—and enrich—the Honors Program. As you peruse our website, I am sure you will get a better feel for our Program and the opportunities we afford our student community. The Honors Program is a place open to new ideas and thoughtful discussion, much as it is open to serve its students and families. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, I invite you to contact me directly.

Thank you for your interest in the Honors Program, and I look forward to meeting you!
