Earn $200 for Getting a Routine Physical

Drexel University wants to help you become more aware of your health and encourage you to maintain good overall wellness by visiting your physician for a routine physical and blood work.

All benefit-eligible employees who contribute to a Drexel Medical Plan can earn a $200 reimbursement on their 2014 medical premiums by visiting their primary care physician for a routine physical and blood work between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30, 2014. Once your participation has been verified by Independence Blue Cross, your $200 premium reimbursement will be credited via Drexel Payroll in one lump-sum payment.

Undergoing a routine, annual physical examination allows you to check in on the status of your health and have a conversation with your doctor about what you can do to stay healthy. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends regular health exams and tests to identify problems before they start or when chances for treatment and cure are better. The goal of the 2014 wellness credit is to incentivize Drexel employees to take these steps and be more proactive about their health.

2014 Wellness Credit FAQs

  1. How long will I have to wait before I receive my reimbursement?
    Reimbursement may take up to 90 days from the date when the lab submits the claim for your blood-work.
  2. Does Drexel need me to provide proof that I’ve completed the routine physical and blood work to receive the wellness credit?
    No, There are specific codes that IBC receives on the claims form submitted by the physician’s office that will trigger when you have met the criteria to receive the Wellness Credit.
  3. Am I eligible to earn the $200 wellness credit incentive?
    If you are an employee of Drexel University, Drexel University College of Medicine or the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University and contribute to a Drexel medical plan, you are eligible to receive the incentive.
  4. What do I have to do to earn my credit?
    Complete a routine physical exam and blood work with your primary care physician.
  5. How will Drexel know I’ve completed these steps?
    Independence Blue Cross (your health insurance provider) will verify completion of these steps
  6. Will my employer see the results of my physical and blood work?
    No. In accordance with HIPPA compliance this information remains confidential
  7. Is this a taxable award?
    Yes. The $200 premium reimbursement will be applied to your paycheck and is considered taxable income.
  8. What if I just had a routine physical and blood work near the end of 2013?
    If you visited with your primary care physician and received both a routine physical and blood test on or after Oct. 1, 2013, then you will receive your reimbursement.
  9. Will I be covered under my insurance if I go to a doctor who is not assigned as my primary care physician?
    If you contribute to a Keystone Point of Service plan and visit a provider who is not designated as your primary care doctor for your routine physical and blood work, these services will not be fully covered as preventive services.
