A Healthier U would like to invite you to review the below announcement regarding a Drexel-sponsored weight loss study.

Drexel has been funded by the National Institutes of Health to offer a free weight loss program called Mind Your Health. The program is part of a study run by Drexel's Laboratory for Innovations in Health-Related Behavior Change that will compare two different, state-of-the-art cognitive-behavioral approaches to lifestyle modification. The goal of Mind Your Health is to achieve long-term weight loss. Faculty, staff, and students who are at least 20 lbs. overweight and between the ages of 18-70 may be eligible to participate in this free treatment study.

The study is designed to determine which approaches to weight loss help participants have the best long-term outcomes, and does not involve any type of weight loss medication. Participation involves one year of treatment groups and two years of follow-up. Looking for something nutritious and delicious to eat on campus? A Healthier U Selections program offers higher-fiber menu items with reduced sodium and reduced calories from fat at several dining locations throughout the University City Campus. A Healthier U selections are:

The Center for Integrated Nutrition and Performance

This partnership between the Department of Nutrition Sciences, the Drexel Recreation Center, and A Healthier U provides the University community — faculty, students, and professional staff — with nutrition education presentations covering a wide range of topics. The Center for Integrated Nutrition and Performance also offers athletic team talks and opportunities for one-on-one nutritional counseling.

Weight Management for A Healthier U, from the Center for Integrated Nutrition and Performance, is a unique program that draws upon expertise within the Drexel community to present educational workshops on nutrition and weight management, with opportunities for individual nutritional counseling along the way.
