Health Services Administration/Public Health - BS/MPH Dual-Degree Program

The newly-inaugurated BS/MPH dual-degree program is designed for students in the Health Services Administration Program, who wish to pursue an accelerated undergraduate curriculum, leading to graduate study in the Masters of Public Health Program of the School of Public Health.  In the new accelerated, dual degree program, students will participate in the Health Services Administration Program for three years (nine academic quarters and one co-operative experience).  After three years of undergraduate study, students will begin their graduate studies in the Masters of Public Health Program.

Nineteen quarter credits from the first year of graduate study will be credited toward completion of the students’ Bachelor of Science degrees.  At the successful completion of the first year of graduate study, the students will receive their B.S. degrees.  When the students successfully complete the remainder of their graduate studies (after one more year), they will receive their Masters of Public Health degrees.

We feel that there is a strong market for the new accelerated, dual degree program among prospective students who have firmly established goals of pursuing a career in Health Administration and Public Health.  The job markets in Health Administration and Public Health are very strong now.  The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has stated that employment in the health professions will grow over the next decade at a rate much in excess of that of the general employment pool.
