Orientation is our official way of welcoming you to the Drexel Community. It ensures that the incoming class begins the term with an informed and consistent level of knowledge about the culture and community that is being offered at Drexel. Students will also find many enriching and rewarding curricular and co-curricular activities. These activities include a Career Management orientation, workshops on “How to Get the Most Out of Your Advising Relationships” and various other workshops that will acquaint you with Drexel’s academic standards and prepare you for the rigors of its graduate programs. Orientation also includes various social activities that will introduce you to your classmates and to Philadelphia. In addition, we provide information on all the administrative matters that you need to address as well as local information to help you get settled in the area.
Here is the link to the Graduate Student Orientation 2010 from last year. (Once you get to this page, right click on the "download" link and save target to the desktop).
If you have not done so, please register now, review the pre-matriculation modules and get a head start of what Drexel is about. (NEW)
A video of all presentations taking place during the Graduate Student Orientation will be available on this page very soon.
New Teaching Assistant Orientation
An additional orientation for teaching assistants is also held at the beginning of each academic year to help prepare new TAs for their role in the classroom. The dates for this year's orientation are Tuesday, September 14 and Thursday, September 16 in Disque Hall 103. Students should plan to be on-campus all day for both days of orientation; breakfast and lunch will be provided. For this year's sessions, you will need to review the TA Manual before orientation begins.
All new TAs are required to attend all parts of orientation and several follow-up workshops during the fall quarter. These all comprise the class EDUC 775, a special, free, one-credit course that is mandatory for all incoming teaching assistants. Workshop sessions during the fall will run from 1-3pm on Fridays.
Required forms for fall quarter workshops include the Observation Report and Mid-Term Evaluation.
