Applied Engineering Technology (AET)

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Applied Engineering Technology at Goodwin College will prepare you for an exciting career in a variety of design, production, automation, quality, and application-related positions in industry.

AET Mission

The mission of the Applied Engineering Technology program is to provide contemporary students with an academic foundation and practical education in engineering technology through an outstanding curriculum and applied research program, and the participation of our students in one of the nation's most successful cooperative educational programs.

As the only program of its type in the Delaware Valley and Greater Philadelphia region, the Applied Engineering Technology program provides an integrated educational experience directed toward applying fundamental knowledge to the solution of practical technological problems including product improvement, manufacturing, construction, and engineering operational functions.

As an Applied Engineering Technology (AET) graduate, you will be prepared to bridge the gap that often exists between the engineer/scientist and the technical or production workforce. To do this, the AET program works toward three primary goals:

  • To introduce students to the experimental principles and concepts of AET by applying contemporary skills and knowledge in a variety of positions based on the industry's needs.
  • To provide students with a strong foundation of engineering practices and to stimulate students' interest by using a problem-solving approach in state-of-the-art laboratories .
  • To provide students with leadership, management, communication skills, and professional ethics, serving as a foundation for future development and career success.

To develop this diverse skill set, the AET curriculum includes general education courses in the following areas: mathematics, sciences, and liberal arts. You will choose a concentration in electrical, manufacturing, and mechanical engineering technology based on your specific interests.

As a student enrolled in the full-time B.S. program, you will gain professional experience through a five-year program with an 18-month cooperative education experience (co-op). Drexel's well-respected co-op experiences will give you a unique advantage when you enter the workforce.
