Faculty Highlights


The Bachelor of Architecture program is supported by full-time and adjunct faculty members offering extensive academic and practical experience in several disciplines:

  • Paul M. Hirshorn, AIA, has been the head of the Department of Architecture since 1986 and am ember of the faculty since 1974.  Previously, he was in private practice and also worked for the Philadelphia firms of Venturi & Rauch and Ueland & Junker.
  • Judith Bing has lectured, written, and exhibited photographs and drawings on vernacular architecture of the Balkans, where she has traveled extensively. She is a registered architect who began her professional career in France, working for Marcel Breuer and Piano + Rogers, and is a partner of Bing Harrington Architects in Philadelphia.
  • Dr. Mark Brack is the Department of Architecture’s architectural historian. A large selection of his architectural photographs can be found on the Society of Architectural Historian`s "Image Exchange" website, and he alsoserves on Philadelphia’s University City Historical Society’s board of directors.
  • Walter H. Moleski,the assistant head of the Department of Architecture, has more than 40 years of experience as an architect and facilities programmer.  He wasawarded the Environmental Design Research Association's Career Award,Progressive Architecture's First Award for Research, as well as a Progressive Architecture Urban Design Citation.  He was a co-editor of Designing for Human Behavior.
