The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Applied Engineering Technology at the Goodwin College is designed for students who plan to pursue careers in a variety of design, manufacturing, and production-related positions.

As the only program of its type in the Delaware Valley and Greater Philadelphia region, the Applied Engineering Technology program provides students with an integrated educational experience directed toward applying fundamental knowledge to the solution of practical technological problems including product improvement, manufacturing, construction, and engineering operational functions.

Applied Engineering Technology (AET) graduates are trained to bridge the gap that often exists between the engineer/scientist and the technical or production workforce. To do this, the AET program works toward three primary goals:

  • To introduce students to the experimental principles and concepts of AET by applying contemporary skills and knowledge in a variety of positions based on the industry's needs.
  • To provide students with a strong foundation of engineering practices and to stimulate students' interest by using a problem-solving approach in state-of-the-art laboratories.
  • To provide students with leadership, management, communication skills, and professional ethics, serving as a foundation for future development and career success.

To develop this diverse skill set, the AET curriculum includes general education courses in the following areas: mathematics, sciences, and liberal arts. Concentrations are available in electrical, manufacturing, and mechanical engineering technology.

Students enrolled in the B.S. program as full-time students take a five-year program with an 18-month cooperative education experience (co-op). Drexel's well-respected co-op experiences provide students with a unique advantage when they enter the workforce.
