The Computing Technology program places emphasis on practical, hands-on education providing fundamental concepts and supplementing these with actual industry experience. Attention is given to maintenance and administration of information systems covering each of the major components of computer infrastructure: hardware, servers, Linux, Windows, Networks, Web, Security, databases and OO programming.
IT employment is moving from mid-size to small organizations and the traditional customer service job of the past, a receptionist or switchboard operator is being replaced with customer service representatives who access multiple information resources, all driven by new technology. In keeping with the smaller organization trend is a movement away from specialist to the generalist, someone capable of doing multiple IT tasks.
The CT program is supported by seven state of the art computer labs in the Goodwin College building and faculty are selected based on their academic credentials and industry experience.
