After a year-long national search, Goodwin College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. William Lynch as dean, effective July 1, 2007. Dr. Lynch came to Drexel as director of the School of Education in 2004, bringing more than 30 years of experience as a public school teacher, professor of education, and higher education administrator.  He has contributed to the field of education through numerous research and curriculum development projects, presentations, and publications.

Prior to coming to the University, Dr. Lynch served as vice president for operations and interim CEO for GWSolutions, Inc., a George Washington University-owned for-profit enterprise that pursued entrepreneurial opportunities in continuing professional education and executive development through consulting, certificate programs, and customized learning.  Dr. Lynch also served as the first executive director of the Center for Distance and Mediated Learning at the George Washington University.  He was a member of the faculty of the Graduate School of Education at George Washington University for 17 years and was the founding director of the university’s first online program, the Educational Technology Leadership Program, for which he received the United States Distance Learning Association's "Most Outstanding Achievement in Distance Learning" award.

Under Dr. Lynch’s leadership as director, Drexel’s School of Education has expanded to become a comprehensive provider of professional programs aimed at preparing students for careers in schools, higher and adult education, business, and government. He has helped develop seven new master's degree programs, a bachelor's and master's dual degree program, an online bachelor's degree completion program, a minor in education, as well as a full-time Ph.D., and part-time Ed.D. program.

During the 2006-2007 academic year, Dr. Lynch served as the interim dean of Goodwin College. During this time, he has worked to create a new mission, organizational structure, and program portfolio in alignment with Drexel University's new strategic plan aimed at expanding Drexel's commitment to learners of all ages and expanding the College's unique academic program offerings. Goodwin College looks forward to continuing its growth under the leadership of Dr. Lynch, as we strive to offer unique education programs that enrich lives, both personally and professionally.
