Goodwin College Launches New Programs in Creativity Studies

, August 26, 2009 — Drexel University’s Goodwin College announces new Creativity Studies programs, designed to provide today’s industry leaders with a competitive edge by enhancing creative thought and innovative leadership skills. Dismissing the notion that creativity is reserved for artistic endeavors, these programs aim to attract corporate, government, and non-profit professionals seeking an injection of innovative ideas in the boardroom.

With classes beginning fall 2009, these cutting-edge programs increase the marketability of professionals in any field or industry by developing fundamental creative problem solving skills, enhancing innate creative strengths, and fostering the ability to apply creativity in the workplace. The programs are offered as stand-alone certificates at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, or as an enhancement to an undergraduate or graduate degree in another area of study such as business, communication, education, project management, or property management. In addition, the Master of Science in Professional Studies program incorporates a concentration in Creativity Studies.

Drexel partners with the American Creativity Association (ACA), affording students access to some of the world's most prominent thinkers, researchers, and writers in the field of creativity and innovation. The Drexel/Torrance Center for Creativity and Innovation , directed by Dr. Fredricka Reisman , is housed in the Goodwin College. The center promotes creativity using programs that cultivate skills in creative thinking, innovative leadership practices, and problem solving techniques. Through the process of creative thought, the center's work enhances an individual's ability to imagine new ideas by learning to envision that which cannot immediately be seen.

Applications for Drexel's undergraduate and graduate certificates in Creativity Studies and M.S. in Professional Studies with a concentration in Creativity Studies are now being accepted for fall 2009. For more information, please contact 215-895-0948.
