Applied Engineering Technology Program Receives ABET Accreditation

, August 31, 2009 — Goodwin College is proud to announce that its bachelor of science program in Applied Engineering Technology (AET) has been accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc. , the recognized accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology.

ABET accreditation demonstrates a program’s commitment to providing its students with a quality education.  Accreditation is a voluntary, peer-reviewed process that requires programs to undergo comprehensive, periodic evaluations.  The evaluations, conducted by teams of volunteer professionals working in industry, government, academia, and private practice with the ABET disciplines, focus on program curricula, faculty, facilities, institutional support, and other important areas.

Goodwin’s program received an outstanding review and was granted accreditation for a full six years, the maximum length of time for which ABET awards accreditation. The accreditation is retroactive from October 1, 2007 and continues until September 30, 2015.

The AET program, housed in Goodwin College’s School of Technology and Professional Studies, is the first SoTaPS program to receive a unique, program-specific professional accreditation.
