Profile:

Bob Muir is a licensed Professional Engineer with over 30 years of progressive experience in engineering and construction. His construction management experience includes all facets of heavy civil and industrial construction, with experience representing both the owner and contractor. The total dollar value of projects that he has managed is in the hundreds of millions. His professional competencies include project management, planning and scheduling, training and development, and marketing construction services. He has received Awards for Excellence on four major bridge and highway projects. He is a member of the America Society of Civil Engineers, Project Management Institute, American Society for Training & Development, and the American Society of Highway Engineers for which he is currently serving as National Director. In 2001-2002, the First State Section of the American Society of Highway Engineers named him Man of the Year.

Professor Muir has taught Construction Methods & Management in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Delaware. Although he has had a very successful career as a practitioner in the industry, his true passion is teaching Construction Management. He is dedicated to the success of our future constructors, increasing the level of professionalism in the construction industry, and contributing to the industry's body of knowledge through research and publication. In addition to construction education, his research areas of interest include organizational and human performance improvement, innovative project delivery, advanced scheduling techniques, constructability studies, value engineering, lean construction, and sustainability.
