Robert F. Brehm, Ph.D., has been associated with more than $1 billion of construction including civic centers, correctional institutions, educational facilities, entertainment venues, and government and commercial projects spanning over 35 years of construction activity. Along with serving as an associate professor for Drexel's Construction Management program, Dr. Brehm also consults on high-profile assignments serving the construction industry.
Dr. Brehm served as senior vice president of Kullman Industries, where he was head of the Institutional Division. In that capacity, Dr. Brehm had full P and L responsibilities for the division's vast portfolio of educational, correctional, and health-care construction projects. In addition to his day-to-day activities, Dr. Brehm served on the company's executive committee, playing an integral role in the company's long-range strategic planning.
Until joining Kullman, Dr. Brehm served as the Assistant Vice President of Regional Construction Management for the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA), where he was the project executive and chief administrator for all matters associated with the construction of the New Wildwoods Convention Center ($70 million) and the renovation of the Atlantic City Historic Boardwalk Hall ($100 million). Dr. Brehm's principal accountabilities included development of final budgets, oversight of design development and construction, establishment of cost accounting and quality control systems, management of construction related regulatory matters, and management of the communication process associated with both projects.
Prior to joining NJSEA, Dr. Brehm served as the director of the Office of Design and Construction (ODC) for the State of New Jersey's Department of the Treasury, where he oversaw the design and construction activities on more than 550 state projects totaling $660 million with an annual operating budget of $7.8 million. Prior to being appointed director, Dr. Brehm directed the design efforts on the state's single largest construction project in its history. Dr. Brehm coordinated the activities of approximately 75 architects and engineers during the design-development of the $250 million South Woods State Prison. The prison facility incorporated state of the art technology to house more than 3,000 inmates.
In addition to his ODC duties, Dr. Brehm was appointed to the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority Construction Committee as a voting member. The committee had oversight responsibilities on the new $268 million convention center in Atlantic City and the $100 million renovation of the Atlantic City Historic Boardwalk Hall. |
