Donald Burns, Goodwin College (previously Evening College) '01, graduated on June 9, 2001, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Applied Technology. He was the very first student to complete his undergraduate work in The Goodwin College's Verizon program.

Verizon and its predecessor, Bell Atlantic, have partnered with the College and Drexel for a number of years to bring degree-completion initiatives and lifelong learning opportunities to Verizon employees. The current program includes hundreds of students, most of whom attend Drexel classes right at their work locations or at Verizon facilities near their workplaces or homes. The program has expanded steadily over the years.
