October 18, 2012
Drexel Athletics announces the 11th Annual Have A Heart Colonial Athletic Association Blood Challenge on October 18, 2012.
Help the Dragons surpass last year's total of 909 pints collected and win the CAA Challenge. The Red Cross will be collecting blood at the Recreation Center located on the corner of 33rd and Market Street.
In 2011, the Drexel Dragons lost to arch rival University of Delaware Blue Hens. We need your help to regain the title. YOU can make a difference in helping save someone's life and at the same time help Drexel win the CAA Blood Challenge.
The idea for a CAA Blood Challenge came from the league presidents/chancellor as a fun way to emphasize the critical importance of donating blood. Each CAA institution works with its local blood service center and designates one day during the fall term to conduct a campus-wide blood drive. Student groups, faculty, staff, and alumni are all encouraged to participate. The tenth annual CAA Blood Challenge was once again an overwhelming success in 2011, with 5,232 actual donors and 5,287 productive units of blood collected from the 12 CAA campuses. The University of Delaware was the winner of the 2011 CAA Blood Challenge for the fifth time with 1,086 actual donors and 1,083 units of blood collected. Over the past ten years the CAA Blood Challenge has raised a total of 32,106 units of blood, which has helped to save 96,318 lives!
