The Office of Risk Management is charged with the goals of preventing, managing and minimizing expense attributable to conduct that falls below established standards of care, including medical malpractice, general liability and workers’ compensation for Drexel University College of Medicine.
This is accomplished by:
- Evaluating and identifying potential risks to patients, employees and visitors;
- Training and educating College of Medicine physicians, midwifes and employees with respect to medical malpractice insurance and appropriate claims reporting requirements;
- Establishing policies, procedures and programs to ensure loss control;
- Providing “best practices” in areas of medical malpractice risk;
- Procuring, managing and coordinating the various aspects of the College of Medicine’s medical malpractice, property and casualty insurance program;
- Administering the College of Medicine’s Workers’ Compensation Insurance program for its employees.
- Reviewing contracts to ensure that appropriate insurance and protective clauses are included.
