Title: Lab Assistant |
Description:
The student will participate in a research project within and NIH
funded lab that studies the control of cellular proliferation. A work-study
student would work as a lab assistant to perform essential functions
to the day-to-day lab operation and assist the senior students and
fellows. Responsibilities inc.: prep of solutions, prep of bacterial
cultures, prep of and sterilization of glassware, reagents and supplies.
There are 2 major projects in the lab:
- the
modulation of the activity of factors that regulate gene expression
(transcription factors) that are either increased or decreased
when cells are induced to proliferate (e.g. normal development,
wound repair, cancer) and
- investigation
of the response of the host cell to infection with DNA virus.
