National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow (GRFP) 2011-2014

Electrical Engineering PhD Candidate

I am currently a fourth-year student in the BS/PhD program. I work in the NanoPhotonics lab of Dr. Adam Fontecchio in collaboration with the Antoinette Westphal College’s Fashion Department to develop a series of wearable electronics applications. I have always had a great passion for the fashion industry and garment design and I have been working towards my goal of fusing my personal and academic interests since the start of my college career. Receiving the NSF GRFP will allow me to pursue this wearable electronics research effort with greater freedom and flexibility, and give me the opportunity to create international collaborations. Through my work I aim to encourage K-12 students with diverse interests to consider pursuing engineering educations so that they too can explore uncharted avenues of engineering.
