Jamel Ali is currently a second year PhD candidate in the department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics. Jamel obtained his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering at Howard University were, under the tutelage of National Academy of Engineering inductee Dr. James W. Mitchell, his thesis work focused on synthesis and characterization of nanoscale biomaterials for 3D tissue scaffolds and non-viral gene transfection. At Drexel he is now a research assistant in Dr.MinJun Kim’s lab investigating magnetically actuated swimming microrobots for localized drug delivery and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
