Alyssa Bellingham

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow (GRFP) 2012-15

BS/PhD Electrical Engineering '17

I am a fifth year student in the B.S/Ph.D program at Drexel University. I started research in the Nanophotonics lab under the direction of Dr. Adam Fontecchio through the STAR program in 2007. My main area of research is in Hyperspectral Imaging, but as an EAGLES program participant I have the opportunity to complete my Master’s thesis work in Madrid, Spain where I am working on molecularly imprinted polymers for antibiotic detection.

Being a recipient of the NSF GRFP is a great honor and I am very grateful for everyone who has helped me become a competitive candidate for this fellowship. It will allow me to pursue my graduate studies unhindered by financial concerns and allow me more time to participate in activities to encourage students to pursue an engineering education.
