Procedure Skills-Based Faculty Mentoring Program Procedure Prospective mentees will search the Faculty Mentor List for a mentor in their desired skill sets prior to contacting the potential mentors and scheduling a meeting to discuss the development of the desired skill sets. The FDE encourages mentors and mentees to view these resources prior to the meeting. The FDE will pay for the first shared meal for a mentor and mentee up to a maximum of $30. The mentee must pay for the meal in cash and will get reimbursed after submitting a cash receipt to the FDE for the meal within 10 working days of the meal. (Original receipts are required.) Prior to submitting the cash receipt to the FDE for reimbursement, the mentee must complete a brief electronic survey (available here) to assess the meeting. This survey is mandatory for the mentee to be reimbursed for the lunch and also to be eligible for future funded meals. The mentee must print out the last page of the survey, which says, “We thank you for your time spent taking this survey. Your response has been recorded,” and must submit this print-out along with the names of the mentor and mentee and the original receipt for the meal. These three documents may be sent via interdepartmental mail or hand-delivered to Maria Gritz, Korman 291. The mentee will then receive his/her reimbursement. Eight weeks after the reimbursement, the FDE will send the mentee a message to assess the ongoing impact of the mentoring relationship. At the end of the academic year, the FDE will send the mentors a brief electronic survey to assess the effectiveness of the program from their perspective. Please note: Each faculty mentee can have up to three funded mentor meals per fiscal year (one each with three different mentors). The FDE is able to sponsor a maximum of 100 mentor/mentee meals per year. Requests for reimbursement will be filled in the order they are completed by the mentee and submitted to the FDE. Once funds are depleted, no additional reimbursements will be made. Mentors and mentees are welcome to contact the FDE regarding the availability of funds (email@example.com).
