Drexel's History and Vision
History of Drexel University
In 1891, legendary financier and philanthropist Anthony J. Drexel answered the call for a new model of higher education and set a course that Drexel University still follows today. Mr. Drexel envisioned an institution of higher learning uniquely suited to the needs of a rapidly growing industrial society and of the young men and women seeking their place in it — core values that continue to guide the University in its modern era.
Drexel University Strategic Plan 2012-2017
Within the past two decades, Drexel's remarkable journey has taken us into the ranks of leading research universities in the United States. We have found original ways to develop unusual breadth, scope, and mindshare. Today, Drexel has all of the makings to define the great, modern, urban university of the future.
