Inspire a Child to Dream Day

Time Schedule | FAQs | Forms

Inspire a Child to Dream Day (Take Your Daughter/Son to Work Day) is held annually at Drexel University 's Main Campus. The event coincides with National Take your Daughter/Son to Work Day on Thursday, April 24, 2008.

The program is open to children and relatives (ages 8-14) of all Drexel University employees. The schedule is made up of group sessions and programs organized by various University departments. Breakfast and lunch is provided for all participating children.

The day will be divided into sessions, lasting 45 minutes each. Faculty and Staff members are needed to lead activities for visiting children. Students will be broken up into groups according to age. An employee who is hosting a session may request a particular age group, depending on the type of activity that is facilitated.

Inspire a Child Day to Dream Day FAQs

Q: My child has food allergies or other dietary restrictions. Can I bring a lunch for him/her?

A: Breakfast and lunch are provided for all visiting children, however if your child cannot eat what is served, you are more than welcome to bring a boxed lunch for your child at lunch time. Parents may also take their child off campus to eat during the time that is allocated for lunch, but they must return promptly at 1PM.

Q: I want my child to attend certain activities or be in the same group as another child. Is this possible?

A: On the registration form you may request certain activities or groupings; however, these are only requests. We will try to honor these requests but cannot guarantee that they will be accommodated.

Q: My child as a disability that may make it difficult to participate in certain activities, what should I do?

A: Contact Jennifer Jerdon at 215.895.1405 or jj329@drexel.edu.

Q: Who will be escorting the children around campus?

A: Drexel University students will be escorting children around campus. Many of these students will get community service credit through the Office of Civic Engagement by participating in this program. Student volunteers will participate in mandatory training before Inspire a Child to Dream Day.

Q: Can I walk around with my child during Inspire a Child to Dream Day?

A: Inspire a Child to Dream Day is designed so that employees will be able to have time at their work locations in the morning and interact with their children where they work stations in the afternoon. This year's program was arranged so that parents can work alone in the morning (children do the majority of the activities at this time) and then work with their child in the afternoon from 2-5PM. This schedule was designed to accommodate all employees, especially those with non-traditional schedules or work environments.

If you want to walk around with your child during the day, you must take time off, if you are away from your workstation (i.e. not working). This policy applies to all employees who bring a child for Inspire a Child to Dream Day.
