At Drexel, Writing Intensive courses are intended to help students to 1) write successfully using the conventions of a particular discipline or field, and 2) use writing as a tool for critical thinking and learning.

The Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) and Writing in the Disciplines (WID) movements have been around for well over 25 years, and have been embraced (in whole or in part) by most major universities.  Strategies for using writing as a tool to learn in all disciplines (WAC), and for making writing in a particular discipline meaningful (WID), can be found by browsing resources available through the the WAC Clearinghouse.

For information about teaching a Writing Intensive Course, please contact Dr. Scott Warnock.
