Biography

An Adjunct Writing Instructor in the English and Philosophy Department, I have been teaching Writing, English, and Communications (Film/Journalism) for more than 20 years, both in college and in high school.

In the classroom, I encourage analytical thinking and effective writing, taught in the context of historical and contemporary issues that directly impact students’ lives.

Since 2004, I have been researching, writing and producing historical documentaries about the African American experience during World War II. Choc’late Soldiers from the USA (CSUSA) examines the liberating and tumultuous experiences of the 140,000 black soldiers stationed in Great Britain during the war. CSUSA premiered in November 2009 as a work-in-progress at the Hirshhorn Gallery, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

I’m presently interviewing individuals for Invisible Warriors: African American Women in World War II (IW), a landmark documentary about the civilian and military contributions of black women to America’s war effort.
