Undergraduate Studies in English & Philosophy

The primary goal of the Department is to enable students to develop solid techniques in critical inquiry, as well as in writing, literary, and reading skills. Implicit in this undertaking is the Department's leadership in the formulation and discussion of such broad theoretical and practical topics as the following:

  • The connection between oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical, ethical and critical thinking
  • Questions of value and morality
  • The relevance and relation of the past to the present
  • The relations between and among cultures
  • The role of literary and philosophical texts in our attempts to explain human motives and behavior
  • The relations between the sexes

Undergraduate Degrees
