Drexel Engineering will kick-off the National Engineers Week celebration by unveiling seven humanoid robots and the leading robotics research at Drexel. Following the humanoid robotics demo, members of the community will be invited to watch robotics competition held on campus and meet the Drexel research teams taking robotics to next level. The event is free and open to the public.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering: February 20, 2012

Students, faculty and professional staff will host an event for 100 Junior Girls Scouts to introduce them to an overview of engineering and the possible career options that are available to them. Hands-on activities will include creating LED patches and liquid nitrogen ice-cream. The Girl Scouts will also attend workshops covering cybersecurity and forensics. Following the activities, Girl Scouts will have lunch with female leaders in engineering and be introduced to humanoid robots.

Jeopardy! Drexel Engineering Faculty Edition: February 20, 2012

Materials Advantage and the Engineering Peer Mentors host Jeopardy! Teaching faculty square off in a battle of wits to kick off Engineers Week. One faculty member from each engineering department will answer freshmen engineering and general knowledge questions in a Jeopardy-style competition. Engineering Student Organization Expo & Tie-Dye T-Shirt Designing: February 22, 2012

Tau Beta Pi invites you to the Engineering Student Organization Expo where students will have a chance to see live demonstrations conducted by student organizations and various research groups within the College of Engineering. After the expo, try your hand at fashion design. Drexel Graduate Women in Science and Engineering will host a free tie-dye your own Drexel Engineering t-shirt event to celebrate National Engineers Week. T-shirts and tie-dye materials will be provided. Light refreshments will be provided.

Engineering Student Scavenger Hunt: February 23, 2012

Think you know your campus? Sign up for the Engineering Student Scavenger Hunt hosted by the Architectural Engineers Institute and find out. The two-hour hunt will begin in the Bossone lobby. Check-in will begin at 3:00pm. Teams will be given a list of tasks and will have two hours to complete as many as possible. One Twitter account per team is required, as some tasks will requirephotos. Wear your favorite Drexel Engineering gear! The winning team will be the one with the most solved riddles submitted by the deadline. The winner will be announced later that night during the Student Mixer.
You and your team must sign up by 5pm on Tuesday February 21, two days prior to the event. Teams can register by emailing mnz23@drexel.edu with the names of all team members and the Twitter account that will be used for picture submissions. Account will be verified at check-in. Only 25 teams can participate and teams will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis. Teams must consist of 3 to 5 Engineering students.

As a capstone event, Drexel Engineering will host an Awards Ceremony to recoginize the outstanding contributions of the faculty, professional staff and alumni. Selected alumni will be inducted into the distinguished Circle of Distinction which honors the achievements and service of its alumni and is the highest recognition bestowed upon Drexel alumni. Newly appointed dean, Dr. Joseph B. Hughes will be providing the keynote remarks at the Awards Ceremony and presenting the awards to faculty and professional staff. Following the Awards Ceremony, the Drexel community is invited to attend a cocktail reception. Dinner is by invitation only and recipients of the Alumni Circle of Distinction will be presented with their awards by the dean.
