Y-Carbon Hires Alumnus Theodore Scabarozi as Corporate Post Doc Researcher

May 5, 2010 Y-Carbon, Inc. announced that it has received support under the Corporate Research Postdoctoral Fellowship Program of the NSF and ASEE to hire alumnus Dr. Theodore Scabarozi ’09 (MSE) as a Corporate Post-Doctoral Researcher.

Funded by the NSF as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, this fellowship program supports 40 positions nationwide for one-year research appointments and is administered by ASEE. The fellowships provide recent engineering PhD recipients with the opportunity to work in a corporate setting, contributing to innovative research aimed at promoting scientific excellence and strengthening the nation’s technological prowess.

Y-Carbon was one of the several leading corporate laboratories that received this grant, along with HP Labs, SAP, Bristol Myers-Squibb, Procter & Gamble, GM and Bell Labs. Dr. Scabarozi is a 2009 PhD from MSE. After receiving his BS in physics from Rowan University, Dr. Scabarozi was a research and development technician at E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co. (2001-2005) where he worked on holographic displays and embedded components in circuit boards. Dr. Scabarozi’s thesis work at Drexel University focused on the synthesis and characterization of bulk and thin film carbides which resulted in the discovery of new materials and generated six publications, and was advised by Dr. Michel Barsoum.

Dr. Scabarozi will work under the mentorship of Dr. Ranjan Dash (co-founder and CTO of Y-Carbon, Inc.) and will collaborate with leading national laboratories and universities worldwide to advance Y-Carbon’s technology.
