SWE Awards the Pageant Title of Mr. Drexel Engineer 2009

mr drexel engineer students May 30, 2009 Armed with pocket protectors and beaming smiles, Drexel’s male engineers were put to the test on center stage in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) 2009 Mr. Drexel Engineer competition. The battle was a fierce fight for top rankings in beauty, talent and grace for not only the pageant title, but a gold sash, glittering crown and fresh flowers in Nesbitt Hall on May 30, 2009. Lucas Hippel ’11 (CBE) took home the first-place prize of being titled Mr. Drexel Engineer 2009.

Hippel was among one of seven male contestants selected to be Mr. Drexel Engineer. Contestants had to pass an interview phase and then after succeeding in the interview process, they were tested in three categories during the competition. Categories included the following: 1) How to dress like an engineer 2) Talent 3) Formal Wear and poise and grace. After passing the three categories, the top three contestants were chosen to proceed to Q & A with the judges. Runner-up was awarded to Amey Khanolkar ’12 (MSE) and third place went to Nick Calcagni ’10 (CAEE). Scoring was based on a 100-point system.
