Guide to Departments
Drexel University College of Engineering is comprised of six departments, which represent some of the most cutting-edge disciplines in the field today. Drexel Engineering thrives on promoting interdisciplinary research, so many departments work together on solving some of the most challenging engineering problems.
-
Chemical and Biological Engineering
Chemical Engineers work in chemical process industries, biotechnology, design and construction, electronics, advanced materials, environmental, safety, and health, as well as many other industries.
-
-
Computer Science
Computer Scientists design and build large software systems, invent easy ways to use computing devices, ensure the security of network, and explore the limits of what computers can do.
-
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Electrical and Computer Engineers develop special suits for pilots in high-acceleration aircraft, work on image processing techniques to diagnose diseases earlier and with higher reliability, design digital controllers for Navy ships and optimize “green” power stations that supply clean energy with high efficiency.
-
Materials Science and Engineering
Materials Engineers play a vital role in our increasingly complex technological society. They extend the limited supply of materials, improve existing materials, and develop new, superior, and sustainable materials and processes with an awareness of cost, reliability, safety, and ecological implications.
-
Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics
Mechanical Engineers use the principles of energy, materials and mechanics to design and manufacture machines and devices of all types and create the processes and systems that drive technology and industry.
