Drexel has a diverse student body with students coming from over 100 countries.

Elisa Bermudez, a native of Venezuela, began her studies at Drexel with the English Language Center. After studying English for nine months, Elisa knew what her major would be. "I love talking with people from different countries, and discovering how their views differ from one another. The Communications major with the Global Journalism concentration allows me to see how diversity affects society."

The decision to come to Drexel was easy for Elisa. "My cousin was pursuing his MBA here and suggested I check it out. Plus, I wanted a university that provided co-op experience and there were not many schools that offered it." Elisa's co-op was with Thomas Jefferson University in the Public Relations department. "My largest assignment was to compile 52 news releases for graduating students. It was a great experience because I realized there are some things you can't learn in a classroom."

Another aspect of Drexel that Elisa particularly enjoys is the diversity of the student body. "Students come from all over the world and the United States." Inspired by the multicultural nature of Drexel’s campus, Elisa formed the Cultural Diversity Student Association along with a group of 12 friends. "Basically, we are an umbrella group for all the international organizations on campus. The CDSA is open to all students, including Americans. We'll organize trips, events, and even meetings where a member will provide a presentation on his or her country."

So what's next for this graduating senior?

"I want to be able to combine communications with my minor in Psychology, hopefully working with students." Sounds like Elisa would make a great mentor to international students
