Career Development
The iSchool at Drexel, College of Information Science and Technology
Drexel's long tradition of experiential learning extends to upper-level students, providing them with context and practical knowledge to supplement traditional theoretical scholarship. At the graduate level, students have access to resources that help them gain professional experience, search for jobs, and research their field of interest. After graduation Drexel continues to support students with career-planning workshops, career counseling, and a résumé search.
Practicum
The iSchool offers a practicum that provides the opportunity to gain credit for work experience along with associated academic coursework.
This online course enables students to use their current jobs or obtain a job/internship in their fields of study to earn three elective credits. Students are responsible for obtaining their practicum jobs.
To Apply
Students applying must:
- Have completed at least 24 credit hours
- Have 6 or fewer credits from work experience
- Have submitted a completed iSchool practicum application form to Jennifer Lally at jennifer.lally@ischool.drexel.edu at least one week prior to the start of the semester
Students may apply no more than 9 credits of work experience toward their degrees. For students who have already completed 9 credits of work experience, practicum will not count toward the degree program.
Graduate Co-op
A Graduate Co-op is ideal for recent college graduates who are looking to develop their skills and build their résumés. It's also valuable for experienced professionals who want to change careers.
Drexel's Graduate Co-op option blends traditional coursework with a period of paid off-campus employment. Participating in the Graduate Co-op program enables students to accept paid positions in their fields of interest.
Eligibility
To be eligible for Graduate Co-op, students must have completed at least 24 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (though requirements may be higher in some programs). International students must also complete three terms as full-time students and demonstrate business-usage English proficiency to become eligible to participate.
