Classes, individual instruction or custom-designed programs for specific needs, including intelligibility (accent reduction) can also be arranged.


Communication Skills for Healthcare Professionals

Designed to help medical professionals develop and refine interpersonal communication skills in the workplace and in social interactions. Participants will work on clarification strategies and cross-comprehension checks as well as on improved intelligibility to help communicate more effectively. This course will also help prepare participants for the USMLE Step 2.

Dates:  Fall Term 2008, Sept. 25 - Dec. 4
   Winter Term 2009, Jan. 15 - Mar. 19
   Spring Term 2009, Apr. 2 - June 4
Time:  Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. - 8:50 p.m.
Cost:  $550 per term*


Medical Terminology

This course is designed to familiarize international professionals with medical terminology in English.

Accent Reduction

This course is designed to help professionals refine their pronunciation, speech rhythm, sentence and word stress and other fluency skills.

Dates:  Fall Term 2008, Sept. 30 - Dec. 9
   Winter Term 2009, Jan. 13 - Mar. 17
   Spring Term 2009, Apr. 7 - June 9
Time:  Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. - 8:50 p.m.
Cost:  $550 per term*




IELTS

The ELC is a certified test site for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Medical professionals needing to satisfy the USMLE English proficiency requirement may click here for more information or to schedule a test date. Test preparation courses for small groups may also be arranged.



TOEFL iBT

The ELC offers TOEFL iBT preparation courses throughout the academic year. Medical professionals needing to satisfy the USMLE English proficiency requirement may click here for more information.
