Drexel ELC recommends several housing choices, but we cannot guarantee availability. If you want housing, you should apply early.
Drexel Residence Halls
A limited number of shared rooms in Drexel residence halls are available for International Gateway students beginning in the Fall term. Gateway students will live in the same residence hall as university students but will be paired with another student in the same program and of the same sex.
Choosing to live in Drexel residence hall requires:
- A commitment of 3 terms (9 months). You will be billed for the entire amount (3 terms) at the start of your program.
- Participation in either the Gold, Blue or Platinum meal plan at Drexel. You must arrange your meal plan directly with the Retail Management office at Drexel. Drexel ELC cannot arrange meal plans or charges for you.
- Fulfillment of Drexel immunization requirements, which will be sent after you confirm your housing.
The reservation deadline for Fall 2013 housing is June 1.

To get more information or to apply for a homestay, please use the Right at Home Homestay website. The Homestay program allows you to experience American culture in the safety and comfort of an American home. It also provides excellent opportunities to practice English coversation. By sharing everyday life with your host family, a Homestay becomes much more than just renting a room in a home. It becomes a place where you feel "right at home."Since every home is different, every Homestay is different. Some Homestay hosts include a husband, a wife, and children; some are single parents with children; and some are single Americans who enjoy sharing their homes with one of our students.
Homestay students are expected to live with their hosts as "family members." This means students may be invited to participate in a variety of family traditions, activities, and outings. They are also expected to keep their bedrooms clean and to help with shared tasks like cleaning up after a family meal. All Homestay hosts are chosen for their hospitality and proximity to the ELC. Each family must submit an extensive application and references to the Homestay Coordinator and be interviewed in the home before they can be accepted as Homestay hosts.
$30 per night + $275 placement fee. Placement fee is due at the time of application. Payments should be made directly to the host family on a monthly basis (30 days x $30 = $900).
