Graduation and Commencement

All graduating students must submit an Application for Degree (PDF) at least one to two full terms before they expect to complete their degree. The Application for Degree can be completed under the Student Tab in Drexel One under “More BannerWeb Student Records.” More details (requirements, deadlines, etc) can be read on the Student Resource Center’s website --  If you have questions about the application for graduation process, please contact Jessica Atchison.

Drexel University Commencement is held once per year every June. All students that graduated in that academic year (which runs Fall through Summer) are eligible to walk at Commencement. Students who plan to graduate in Summer Term are eligible to walk in the spring provided that they (1) have six or less credits left to complete and (2) submit the Application to Participate Form (PDF).

Students will be asked to RSVP for Commencement when they apply for their degree. This functions as your “registration” for the event. Your Cap and Gown must be ordered through the Drexel Bookstore, which usually begins taking orders around mid-May.  When you pick up the Cap and Gown you will receive your tickets to Commencement. Generally, four tickets are made available per graduate. As online students, if you do not live near campus and cannot pick up your regalia and tickets prior to Commencement, then you should call the Bookstore (215-895-2860) ahead of time to make this arrangement.

Drexel offers discounted hotel rates for students traveling into Philadelphia from out of town. Out of this list, the closest to Drexel’s campus is Sheraton University City Hotel.

For online students who cannot attend in person, Commencement will be streamed live and archived for later viewing.  You will be able to access this stream on the Drexel Commencement Homepage.

College of Engineering Reception

For students able to attend Commencement, a reception for graduates of the College of Engineering will be held at 11AM, immediately following the ceremony.  The event will be held in the Bossone Research Center Lobby located on Market Street between 31st and 32nd.  Light refreshments will be served.

Your diploma will be mailed to you within 4-6 weeks AFTER final grades are posted for the term in which you are expected to graduate. Be sure that the correct mailing address for the diploma is listed in the application for degree form. Please note that if you have any outstanding bills or holds, you will not receive your diploma until those are resolved.

For any students who need their diploma to be reissued, you can make this request using the Diploma Replacement Form.  Please be aware that your reissued diploma will state that it's a duplicate of the original copy.
